Ingwe goalkeeper Levis Opiyo says a word of prayer before a previous KPL league match

AFC Leopards goalkeeper Levis Opiyo has blatantly accused a Gor Mahia Stewart of using black magic against him, to ensure he loses derby matches against KO’gallo.

Opiyo who went through a hard time during last season’s derby, after his major error saw KO’gallo complete a double against them, with some section of ingwe fans accusing him of selling the match. On 22, April 2024.

Opiyo who has been ingwe first choice keeper for the last three seasons, was shut down by Gor's Austin Odhiambo and Benson Omala after a back pass from Ken Owino, and he ended up hitting the ball against Odhiambo for the lone goal in the 95th edition of the Mashemeji derby.

While 10-man KO’gallo completed a double against their sworn rivals during the 2023-2024 season, Ingwe fans were left baying for Opiyo’s blood, accusing him selling the match.

He strongly denied the allegations, stating, " No one in my family gambles, and I won’t be the first. The little money people make from betting – I already have that. We weren’t raised to gamble, and I’d never be involved in match-fixing."

The bold Opiyo was speaking during an interview with Tikitaka podcast on you tube, alleging that he has been feeling uneasy and weak during derbies, and finally found out that the Gor Stewart casted a spell on him

Opiyo's error also led to Benson Omala scoring a goal during the first leg of the derby at Kasarani Stadium as it ended 2-0 in Gor’s favor. In another instance, Opiyo gifted Gor an equalizer during Madaraka Day celebrations, on June 1, 2022 as KO'gallo  eventually won 6-5 on post match  penalties.

“The Stewart was a very good friend of mine during my days at KO’gallo, and he even greets me well before derbies. But our top Stewart from Ingwe revealed to me that the man has using black magic on me leading to the poor show during derbies.” revealed the  Kenyan international.

Opiyo says he will counter the man this season and has vowed that Ingwe will floor KO’gallo, in the derby this season.

"Anytime I play in the derby I feel weak, and during the last derby there was a fracas at half time, as Ingwe and KO’gallo Stewarts exchanged blows .  Leopards Chief Stewart told me they had observed the man for a long period  and he was the reason the fight broke out."  Opiyo said

Opiyo  also added that he felt it and that God also revealed to him how the man plays with him outside the pitch, and I he is left weak.

"These things work and black magic “juju” has also been mentioned in the bible, but I know how to counter him this time, because I serve a bigger God I will be ready for him." conluded Opiyo.

The allegations come after KO’gallo dominated the mashemeji derby losing only once since 2016, after ingwe rallied from behind to clinch a 2-1 victory on 14 May 2023 at Nyayo stadium.

This was the first time Ingwe overcame KO’gallo since Lamin Diallo’s lone goal sunk Gor 1-0 at Kasarani stadium on 7 Mar 2016. Opiyo joined Leopards from Wazito FC in November 2021, and has only won one derby against KO’gallo.

The black magic topic has been mooted in the football circles, but players, coaches and even fans have been accused of using it. Gor and Leopards have allegedly hired juju men on full salary, to counter black magic.

Security guards have also caught people smearing blood on the opponents’ dressing rooms, or planting chicken or fish borns on the goal posts late at night.

Another former Leopards player who didnt want to be mentioned said juju exits, and he has been victim after a fellow player cast a spell on him. He claims he was so good in traning but during match days he developed minor injuries and partiaally lost his vision during warm ups.

"Watu huenda kwa mababu hadi TZ  kutafuta form an pia kunyakua number kwa squadi, but wengi wao hawaendagi mbali sababu ma juju humaliza career zao kiajabu"

(Players go to wicth doctors as far as Tanzania to get good form and also grab a starting slot, but most of them never go far because the same juju they use finishes their careers mystiriusly)

However former Gor Mahia winger Dan Makori says the juju vybe is just a psychological war that doesn’t work, despite the  accusations he  personally never saw anything suspicious.

Makori reveals former Gor and Tanzanian  keeper Ivo Mapunda  was accused of having juju in his towel, but he also had bad days in office just like other keepers.

“Levis should know that blanders are part of the game and he shouldn’t believe that anytime he concedes against Gor it is juju. The last derby KO’gallo won the back pass from Ken Owino led to Omala and Austin narrowing Opiyo blocking his way forcing the error.” Said Makori

Veteran coach Robert Matano also recently refuted claims of using juju, and even asked his fellow coaches to also use it in order to succeed.

Coincidentally, Opiyo's elder brother Peter "Pinchez Opiyo" played for both Gor Mahia and ingwe, scoring  the winning goal for Leopards, in their 1-0 victory to grab the 2013  FKF  finals, to deny Gor a double .
