Probe as three men killed, bodies dumped in Nyamira village

Detectives are investigating the bizarre killing of three men whose bodies were dumped in Bundo village, Township sublocation, Nyamira county.

Police said the incident was discovered by residents on Thursday, who alerted authorities.

A team of police visited the scene and found the bodies of three adult males tied together with a rope.

The victims had multiple deep cuts, suggesting they were brutally killed elsewhere before their bodies were transported and abandoned at the site.

Two of the deceased have since been identified as Albert Oigo, 25, and Amos Nyachio, 35, from Kisii county.

The identity of the third victim remains unknown, police said.

Preliminary investigations by the DCI have uncovered at least three additional locations believed to be primary crime scenes.

Detectives recovered blood-stained areas and two pairs of shoes suspected to belong to the victims, reinforcing suspicions that the killings took place away from where the bodies were found.

Authorities indicated that intelligence reports suggest the three men may have been involved in criminal activities, though investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading to their deaths.

Police condemned the murder and urged locals not to resort to murder trend to solve crime.

Such murder incidents are common in the region and are perpetuated by vigilante groups targeting perceived criminals.

The bodies were moved to the Nyamira County Referral Hospital mortuary, where postmortem examinations are expected to be conducted.Police have intensified efforts to identify the third victim and pursue those responsible for the killings.

Elsewhere, police in Murang’a county launched investigations into a suspected murder incident after a 40-year-old woman was found dead inside her house in Kabati area, Kandara subcounty.

Detectives said the incident was reported at around noon by a resident, who raised concern after she was unable to reach her mother, Lilian Chepkurui, on phone despite several attempts.

Police proceeded to the deceased’s residence. Upon arrival, they found the house locked with a padlock, prompting them to forcibly break in.

Inside the house, the body of Lilian Chepkurui was discovered lying face down and unresponsive.

Preliminary observations indicated that the body had no visible external injuries, leaving the cause of death unclear.

The body was moved to Thika Level 5 Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.

Police have since opened investigations into the incident, treating it as a suspected murder pending further forensic analysis.
