Seats up for by-elections in 2026/WILLIAM WANYOIKE

Kenya is set to hold a series of by-elections on May 14, 2026, as announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The mini-polls will fill vacant seats in both national and county assemblies following the deaths of elected leaders in recent months.

Among the key contests is the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat in Kajiado County, which fell vacant after the death of MP Johana Ng’eno in February 2026.

At the county level, voters in Endo Ward in Marakwet East will elect a new Member of County Assembly (MCA) following the death of Jeremiah Kibwott in January 2026.

Similarly, Porro Ward in Samburu West will also head to the polls after MCA Patrick Leerete died in December 2025.

The by-elections are expected to test political strength at the grassroots and could influence local power dynamics.

IEBC has urged eligible voters to prepare for the exercise, which plays a crucial role in ensuring continued representation.
