Technology firm TECNO has unveiled its latest AI-powered CAMON 50 smartphone series at the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, with the devices now available in the Kenyan market.

The new lineup, CAMON 50, CAMON 50 Pro and CAMON 50 Ultra 5G is designed to cater to a wide range of users, from everyday consumers to content creators, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence and advanced photography.

According to the company, the series brings flagship-level features to the mid-range segment, combining professional imaging, AI-powered tools and durability at relatively accessible prices.

Speaking during the launch, TECNO Chief Marketing Officer Laury Bai said the company is focused on making AI useful in everyday life.

“Consumers now want their AI to reflect their individuality, be readily available and deliver true value in practical daily life scenarios,” she said.

“This is why TECNO is committed to building practical AI for all.”

The CAMON 50 series is built around a 50-megapixel Sony camera designed to deliver high-quality images, including in low-light conditions.

The Pro and Ultra models are further equipped with telephoto lenses capable of up to 60 times zoom, allowing users to capture distant subjects with clarity.

The devices also integrate AI features such as automatic subject tracking and enhanced image processing to improve photo quality. TECNO says these capabilities are aimed at users who rely on their smartphones for photography, including social media creators and everyday users.

A standout feature in the series is the “Universal Tone” technology, which is designed to accurately represent diverse skin tones, particularly for African users. Frédéric Guichard, CEO of DXOMARK, said the technology enhances the realism of images.

“With the CAMON 50 Ultra 5G, TECNO’s Universal Tone technology delivers an image style that closely matches how users naturally see the scene,” he said, noting that the device stands out in accurate skin tone rendering.

Beyond photography, the smartphones come with a suite of AI-powered tools, including an image-to-video generator, AI art features and a voice assistant that can be activated at the press of a button.

The CAMON 50 Ultra 5G is powered by a high-performance processor and features a long-lasting battery, alongside dust and water resistance. The device is also built to military-grade durability standards, making it suitable for demanding environments.

At the same event, TECNO announced a partnership with Italian luxury brand Tonino Lamborghini, signalling its entry into premium lifestyle technology.

The collaboration has already produced a gaming mini PC and a limited-edition smartphone, with the company hinting at more products across categories such as laptops, tablets and wearables.

The launch underscores TECNO’s broader strategy to expand its AI ecosystem while delivering practical and accessible technology to consumers in markets such as Kenya.
