Several Kenyan drivers were forced to withdraw from the Safari Rally Kenya 2026 after encountering mechanical problems during the grueling competition.

Driver Ishmael Azeli retired at Special Stage 19 following mechanical issues that halted his progress in the rally.

Hamza Anwar also exited the race earlier at Special Stage 17, specifically at Oserengoni 1, after his car developed mechanical faults.

Another Kenyan competitor, Tinashe Gatimu, was forced to retire at Special Stage 4 at the Loldia stage due to similar technical problems.

Pauline Sheghu withdrew from the rally at Special Stage 15 at Elementaita 2, while Lisa Christoffersen retired earlier at Special Stage 6 at Kedong after mechanical complications.

Despite the setbacks, six Kenyan drivers successfully completed the rally.

The challenging terrain, rough tracks and unpredictable conditions once again highlighted why the event remains one of the toughest rounds of the World Rally Championship calendar.
