Motorists travelling through the Naivasha corridor have been advised to use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion during the Safari Rally period.
According to the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), heavy traffic is expected along the Rironi–Nakuru highway as rally activities attract large numbers of visitors and participants.
The rally, which runs from March 12 to March 15, 2026, is likely to cause delays along major sections of the highway, particularly around Naivasha.
To ease movement, KeNHA has suggested several alternative routes for motorists heading toward Nakuru and neighbouring towns.
One option is the scenic route from Nairobi through Rironi Flyover, Magumu, Njambini, Ol Kalou and Dundori to Lanet.
Another is the adventure route that passes through Nairobi, Rironi, Naivasha, Engineer, Ol Kalou, Dundori and Lanet.
Motorists can also use the Suswa shortcut from Nairobi through Ngong, Suswa, Narok and Nakuru.
Additionally, drivers may take the Thika trail, which connects Nairobi, Thika, Magumu, Ol Kalou, Dundori and Lanet to bypass the busy Naivasha corridor.
