In a public notice issued on Thursday, the highways authority said temporary traffic control measures, including lane management and diversions, may be introduced as technical investigations and stabilisation works progress.
The closures took effect on Thursday, March 12, and will remain in place until Thursday, March 19, 2026.

Traffic heading to the Nairobi central business district from Thika will be redirected to use the Globe Overpass, while motorists travelling along University Way from Thika will be diverted to Prof Wangari Maathai Road.
Motorists travelling from Thika Road to Kirinyaga Road and the Old Taxi Park area will use Ring Road.
Traffic from Kipande Road heading to the CBD has been advised to use Limuru Road via the Fig Tree junction before joining Prof Wangari Maathai Road.
Motorists travelling from University Way or the CBD who intend to make a U-turn at Globe Roundabout toward Thika Road have been directed to use the Guru Nanak U‑Turn instead.
The authority said traffic marshals and police officers will be deployed to guide motorists and minimise disruption during the repair works.

Part of the bridge was damaged during last week’s heavy rains that triggered widespread flooding across the city and other parts of the country.
The floods compromised the structural integrity of road infrastructure in several areas, displaced families and caused losses to businesses.
“Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas and follow the proposed traffic management plan as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” KeNHA said.
