President William Ruto/FILEPresident William Ruto did not shy away from celebrating the recent parliamentary by-election results, where all four contested seats were won by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidates.
Speaking during the UDA-ODM joint parliamentary group meeting at KICC on Tuesday, he took the opportunity to remind the nation that the elections under the reformed Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had gone smoothly and, of course, that his supporters had come out on top.
“In the last by-election in the four seats that were in contest, broad-based, won all of them… yes, just for good record, all were won by broad-based candidates,” Ruto said, relishing the moment.
His remarks went beyond just numbers, carrying a playful undertone of political pride.
He noted that the by-elections, held in four constituencies, were the first real test for the reformed electoral body, and the results provided UDA with a morale boost ahead of the 2027 general elections.
On February 26, 2026, the UDA secured a clean sweep in by-elections held across four constituencies and wards, dealing a setback to opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party won all four seats contested, including one parliamentary seat and three Members of County Assembly (MCA) positions.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) confirmed the results on Friday, February 27, 2026, posting the official declarations on its website. In a statement on its social media platforms, the commission thanked voters in the four by-election areas for participating and announced the UDA candidates as winners.
In the Isiolo South constituency, the returning officer formally declared the UDA candidate elected to Parliament, congratulating him on his victory.
President William Ruto also congratulated the winning candidates, thanking voters in Isiolo South, West Kabras, Muminji, and Evurore wards for supporting the ruling party. In a post on X, he described the results as a demonstration of the party’s strong and growing national presence.
“Thank you, Isiolo South, West Kabras, Muminji, and Evurore for standing firmly with the United Democratic Alliance in yesterday’s by-elections. We are firmly on course to building a solid national political party whose vision goes beyond generations as we move Kenya to the first world,” Ruto said.
He also expressed confidence in the newly elected officials, praising their commitment to serve their constituents diligently.
“Congratulations Tubi Mohammed (Isiolo South Constituency), Elphas Kainanga Shalakha (West Kabras Ward), Duncan Muratia Nyaga (Evurore Ward), and Peterson Njeru (Muminji Ward) for your victory and the confidence the people have shown in you,” he added.
The by-election outcomes are seen as a boost for UDA, reinforcing the party’s position ahead of next year’s general elections, and demonstrating voter support for the ruling party’s agenda and candidates across the regions.
