The Majembe vs Mbavu Destroyer bout began as an online challenge between two Kenyan social media personalities known for posting boxing videos on platforms such as TikTok. Their exchanges quickly gained traction online, eventually leading to the organisation of a formal boxing event.
The match is being promoted by comedian and media personality Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, together with other event organisers. What started as a social media rivalry has since developed into one of the most talked-about amateur sporting events in Kenya in 2026.
