Nairobi’s ongoing heavy rainfall has claimed more than just property; it has left even the most vocal social media personalities shaken.

Tiktoker Gloria Ntazola has taken to her Instagram stories to share a harrowing experience that has led her to make a significant change to her daily life.

The content creator, known for her candid and often confrontational videos, revealed that she narrowly escaped being swept away by flash floods while driving her Audi.

The Near-Death Encounter

The incident occurred during a night of particularly heavy downpour in the capital. Ntazola described a scene of chaos as rising waters quickly transformed city roads into dangerous rivers.

"Yesterday we almost got swept away. I cried so much," Ntazola shared with her followers.

The experience was enough to change her perspective on luxury vehicles and road safety. She noted that the emotional toll of the event was immense, leaving her in tears as she navigated the life-threatening situation.

A Vow to Park the Audi

Following the scare, Ntazola has decided to retire her Audi for the remainder of the rainy season. She expressed frustration with the vehicle’s performance under extreme weather conditions, suggesting that it is not suited for Nairobi’s current climate.

"I’ll not be driving... because Audis are the shittiest cars especially during rainy seasons," she stated bluntly.

A City Under Siege

Gloria Ntazola’s experience comes amidst a wider disaster in the capital. The Nairobi River recently burst its banks, leading to at least 23 confirmed deaths in the city alone.

Residential areas like Grogan and major highways have become impassable, with the military being deployed to rescue stranded motorists.

Ntazola first rose to national fame after a viral video showed her "kidnapping" a Nairobi City County askari who had entered her car. Since then, she has remained a prominent voice online, often commenting on city governance and infrastructure.

The Danger of Urban Flooding

The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that the rains are set to continue until at least 10 March. Experts have advised drivers of low-clearance vehicles, such as sedans, to be particularly cautious.

As Ntazola joins the list of those counting their blessings after a near-miss, her story serves as a cautionary tale for city dwellers. For now, her Audi remains parked as she seeks safer ways to navigate the flooded streets of Nairobi.
