Grace Kidake during a previous race/ HANDOUT Team Kenya produced another glittering display at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea, sweeping to four gold medals on Wednesday morning during the penultimate day of competition.
Florence Chepsoi ignited Kenya's golden charge with a commanding victory in the W40 8km cross country, powering to the finish in 29:00.
She crossed the line well clear of Britain's Rebecca Luxton, who claimed silver in 30:46, while American April Lund completed the podium in 31:08.
The cross country triumph sealed Chepsoi's second gold medal of the championships, adding to her earlier W40 5,000m crown. She had stormed to victory in 18:19.37, fending off Lund (18:24.24) as Ireland's Rachel Murphy settled for bronze in 19:38.78.
Rosaline David also struck gold for Kenya, producing an equally dominant performance in the W45 8km cross country. She cruised to a 29:54 finish, with France's Laetitia Bonnechorgue taking silver in 32:47 and Italy's Giuseppina Piccaluga claiming bronze in 34:11.
Like Chepsoi, David completed a memorable championship double after previously conquering the W45 5,000m in 18:57.20, ahead of Bonnechorgue (20:03.04) and Britain's Madeline Plieth (20:08.84).
In the men's ranks, Francis Bowen delivered another emphatic victory, capturing the M50 8km cross country title in 26:52. Spain's Victor Martinez finished second in 27:12, while Britain's Brian Wildee earned bronze in 27:21.
On the track, Grace Kidake showcased her speed to clinch gold in the W40 400m, clocking 57.76. France's Joanna Derbiertook silver in 58.38, with Australia's Alison Van Moger completing the podium in 59.99. Kidake's victory came just days after she had collected silver in the W40 800m in 2:18.75.
Sylvia Chesebe, however, fell just short of completing her own golden double. The Kenyan clocked 55.86 to secure bronze in the W35 400m, as Australia's Ilana Grandinee sprinted to gold in 55.37 ahead of Spain's Stephanie Araya (55.54). Chesebe had earlier stamped her authority over the W35 800m, storming to gold in 2:09.87.
Veteran race walker Eric Sikuku also narrowly missed out on a second title, settling for silver in the M50 5,000m race walk after clocking 22:28.61.
The experienced Kenyan race walker had opened his championship campaign in style by winning the M50 10km race walk gold in 49:35.
