One of Health CS Aden Duale's security car has been involved in an accident / HANDOUT

A vehicle in the security convoy of Health CS Aden Duale was involved in a road accident in the Otonglo area along the Kisumu–Busia Highway on Sunday.

The accident involved a matatu and a tuk-tuk, and preliminary reports indicate for people in the tuk-tuk were injured

According to a member of Duale’s security team, the accident involved one of the security vehicles accompanying the Cabinet Secretary.

The officer confirmed that there were no casualties reported from Duale's following the incident.

CS Duale himself was not involved in the accident, and he is safe. He has since traveled back to Nairobi.

Duale had attended Health PS Ouma Oluga’s thanksgiving ceremony in Rarieda, Siaya County, on Sunday.

The event brought together leaders, residents, and supporters to celebrate Oluga’s journey in public service and his recent appointment in government. In a message shared during the occasion, Oluga expressed gratitude for what he described as a challenging yet fulfilling journey guided by faith.

“Today, my heart is full as I celebrate #PsOlugaThanksgiving — a journey that, by God’s grace, has been both challenging and deeply fulfilling,” he said. “Every step has been a reminder of His faithfulness, His guidance, and the strength He provides.”

The Thanksgiving ceremony was marked by prayers, speeches, and celebrations as leaders lauded Oluga’s contributions to the health sector and his commitment to serving Kenyans.

President William Ruto, among other leaders, was present at the ceremony.

“Presided over by President William Ruto, we joined leaders and the people of Rarieda for the thanksgiving ceremony of the Principal Secretary for Medical Services Ouma Oluga, held at Okela Primary School in Siaya County,” Duale said in a statement.

“I wish Oluga well as we continue to collectively steer reforms in the health sector and advance the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).”

The president exuded confidence in Oluga’s leadership as PS Medical Services, saying he is one of Kenya’s best.

“He is one of our best, and I have no doubt in my mind that we will walk into the future in matters of health because we have a professional running our medical services,” the president said.

"In Dr Ouma Oluga is an industrious, focused, and dedicated public servant.”
