High-speed traffic now passes by scenes of levelled structures and scattered debris.
The operation follows a seven-day notice issued by KeNHA on February 9, 2026, ordering traders to vacate the road reserve.
This move is designed to pave the way for the construction of designated bus bays aimed at enhancing road safety and easing chronic traffic congestion.
The photos capture the immediate aftermath of the demolition, showing a tangled mess of twisted corrugated iron sheets and splintered wooden beams.
Traders are seen picking through the wreckage of what were once thriving roadside businesses to salvage what remains of their livelihoods.
Sacks of goods and plastic containers sit in the open air as the former occupants face the reality of the cleared road reserve.
Some residents sit among the ruins, while others carry away heavy pieces of roofing and structural timber.

By moving public service vehicles into these new bays, KeNHA aims to improve the overall traffic flow along the busy Nairobi-bound direction and both sides of the Roysambu section.
While the roadside is currently a scene of heavy debris and salvaged wares, the government insists the infrastructure project will ultimately provide a more organised environment for commuters.
