
The pursuit of well-being continues to find its greatest success in Northern Europe, as Finland secures the top spot in the 2025 global happiness rankings.
With a score of 7.74 on a ten-point scale, Finland remains the world's leader in self-reported life satisfaction.
The rankings, derived from comprehensive survey ratings where 10 represents the highest possible level of happiness, show a consistent trend of high stability and social welfare in the Nordic region.
Denmark and Iceland follow in a near-tie, both recording scores of 7.52, while Sweden and the Netherlands round out the top five with scores of 7.35 and 7.31, respectively.
These nations have long been recognised for the strength of their social contracts and the perceived quality of life among their citizens.
Beyond Europe, Costa Rica has emerged as a significant outlier in sixth place, scoring 7.27 and outperforming several larger economies.
Norway follows at 7.26, while Israel maintains a high ranking of 7.23 despite regional complexities. Luxembourg holds the ninth position with a score of 7.12.
Closing out the top ten is Mexico, which achieved a score of 6.98. These scores reflect how citizens across diverse cultures and geographies perceive their current life situation, balancing economic factors with social connectivity and personal freedom.
