The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially opened the registration window for national examinations, calling on heads of institutions and principals across the country to begin the process through the Competency Based Assessment (CBA) portal.

Educational leaders are urged to register their candidates promptly to avoid the logistical complications associated with a last-minute rush.

The registration schedule for 2026 is strictly defined across three major examination categories.

Candidates for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) have until March 16 to complete their registration, having begun the process on February 16.

For those sitting the Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA), the portal opened on March 2 and will remain accessible until March 31.

Similarly, registration for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is currently underway, running from February 16 through to a March 31 deadline.

To facilitate this digital transition, school heads can access the portal via the official link at cba.knec.ac.ke. The authentication process requires the institutional centre code to be used as both the initial username and password. Upon logging in and confirming the data protection protocols, heads of institutions must update their professional credentials, including their name and mobile phone number.
