Jomvu Member of Parliament Badi Twalib lauded security agencies in Mombasa county for maintaining peace and stability in the constituency during the holy month of Ramadhan, noting that no incidents of insecurity have been reported since the fasting period began.

During the commissioning of the new Assistant Chief Office at Mbuyu Wa Chapa in Jomvu Kuu ward, Mreroni sublocation, Twalib said residents have been able to observe their religious obligations, including nightly tarawih prayers, without fear or disruption.

“I have not heard of any incident since Ramadhan started of people being disturbed during their prayers,” the MP said.

He commended the regional and county security teams for their coordinated efforts, specifically recognising Jomvu subcounty Police Commander Celine Chirchir for effective leadership and proactive policing strategies that have enhanced safety in the area.

Twalib noted that improved security has strengthened community participation in religious and social activities, fostering a sense of confidence among residents throughout the fasting period.

“Since Ramadhan started, there has been zero incident of insecurity in Jomvu,” Chirchir stated during the event.

She attributed the calm to intensified patrols, intelligence-led operations, and close collaboration between law enforcement officers and the local community.

Chirchir highlighted recent achievements by the police, including the interception of bhang valued at Sh6.4 million and the seizure of approximately 286 litres of illicit brews, namely kangara and chang’aa, shortly after she assumed office. The operations, she said, demonstrate the commitment of security officers to curb drug trafficking and the illegal alcohol trade in the constituency.

She thanked the MP for his continued support toward security initiatives and warned individuals involved in criminal activities that law enforcement agencies remain vigilant and ready to take firm action.

To sustain the peaceful environment, Twalib called on Kenya Power to ensure a stable electricity supply with minimal blackouts, noting that many Muslim faithful conduct prayers late into the night during Ramadhan.

He also urged water service providers to address persistent water shortages in Jomvu constituency. The MP observed that although the national government, in partnership with the World Bank, has completed piping works in parts of the area, many households are yet to receive a consistent water supply.

In addition to security matters, Twalib announced plans to improve access to education by constructing a secondary school at Mbuyu Wa Chapa to benefit students from the locality.

He further assured residents that vetting processes for opportunities involving children would include representatives from Mbuyu Wa Chapa to ensure fairness and transparency.
