President William Ruto on Monday visited fallen Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno’s Karen home to condole with the family.

Ngeno was among the six on board a chopper that crashed at Chepkiep, Mosop Constituency, Nandi County on February 28, 2026.

President Ruto arrived at Ngeno’s home accompanied by other leaders.

He was seen signing the condolence book.

On Saturday, Ruto expressed profound shock and sadness over the passing of Emurua Dikirr MP Ng’eno.

In a statement released Saturday evening, the president described Ng’eno as “a progressive and devoted servant of the people who worked tirelessly on behalf of the residents of Emurua Dikirr, Narok County.”

“He was focused, vocal, and fearless; a leader who stood firmly for justice and equity for all,” President Ruto said, highlighting the MP’s dedication to his constituents.

The president further noted that Ng’eno would be remembered for “the tangible progress achieved under his leadership and his exemplary commitment to promoting local talent, especially in music.”

Ruto extended his condolences to the late MP’s family, friends, and the people of Emurua Dikirr.

He also offered prayers for all victims and families affected by the helicopter crash.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends, the people of Emurua Dikirr, and all the victims and families affected by the helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County,” he added.

Ng’eno’s passing has left a deep void in the political landscape, as leaders and citizens alike mourn the loss of a committed legislator and advocate for justice and local development.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula confirmed the untimely death of Ng’eno Saturday evening.

In an official notification to Parliament Saturday, February 28, 2026, Wetang’ula announced that Ng’eno, along with five others, perished in a helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County, at around 4:45 pm.

“It is with profound sorrow that I notify the House and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely and tragic demise of the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr Constituency, the late Hon. Johana Ng’eno Kipyegon, CBS, MP,” the Speaker said.

On behalf of Parliament, Wetang’ula conveyed condolences to the families and friends of Ng’eno and the other passengers who lost their lives.

“May their souls rest in eternal peace,” he said.

Ngeno, born in 1972, was serving his third consecutive term in Parliament, having first been elected in 2013.

He had served as Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works and was also a member of the Liaison Committee. In the 12th Parliament, he served on the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.

Under his leadership, the Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works Committee played a key role in the passage of the Affordable Housing Act, 2024, which provided a framework for access to decent and affordable housing in Kenya.

Educated at Mogondo Primary School and Maseno National School, Ng’eno pursued higher studies abroad and in Kenya.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Law from Kyiv TSN University, a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Laws degree from Mount Kenya University, and a postgraduate diploma from the Kenya School of Law.

He was admitted to the bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in September 2025.
