Nairobi Senator gifted a t-shirt during a visit by TikTokers/XEmbattled ODM Secretary General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has said the viral “Sisi ndio Sifuna” slogan has boosted his confidence amid heightened political attention around him.
The phrase “Sisi ndio Sifuna”, meaning (We are Sifuna), has recently gained traction online, with many Kenyans, particularly younger demographics, adopting it as a show of solidarity with the Nairobi senator.
Sifuna said the wave of public support reassured him that he is not alone, adding that the country is at a critical moment that requires leaders to heed public sentiment.
“When Kenyans said ‘Sisi ndio Sifuna’, I felt safe. I know we are many, and there is power in numbers, and it gave me confidence that even if they try to push me down, there are like ten million people who will still push our journey. I’m happy for the country, and I remain eternally grateful for the support that we have received,” he said when speaking to Radio Citizen.
“We have a historic moment in the country to set the record straight that some people have refused to listen to Kenyans. That is the time to remind us of some things.”
The slogan evolved from Sifuna’s signature self-introduction, “Mimi ndio Sifuna”, and has since transformed into a broader digital rallying narrative.
The narrative gathered further momentum after Sifuna hosted two popular TikTok personalities at his office, a visit that quickly became a talking point across social media platforms.
Photos shared on his official X account showed a visibly elated senator warmly welcoming the two young women.
The images captured light-hearted moments inside the senator’s office, with Sifuna seated at his desk, engaging the visitors in animated conversation as all three laughed together.
In another photo, the TikTokers presented him with a white T-shirt bearing the inscription “Mimi ndio Sifuna.”
The back of the shirt featured a printed Kenyan flag alongside the coat of arms, blending political symbolism with online culture.
“Ma baddies wa pale TikTok wameamua kuni kit for Sunday. Thanks for the love and support, bwana. God bless,” Sifuna captioned the post, signalling appreciation for the gesture.
The visit triggered a wave of reactions from Kenyan netizens, with supporters expressing admiration for the senator as the “Sisi ndio Sifuna” slogan continues to trend online.
This comes amid a politically charged period for Sifuna, who has recently faced internal party turbulence after ODM removed him from his position as secretary general.
Speaking at a press briefing in Nairobi, he insisted he remains the party’s validly elected secretary general.
“I was not given a chance to defend myself,” he said, asserting that the NEC’s action violated party procedures.
He has secured temporary court orders blocking his ouster, setting the stage for a legal and political battle.
