Personal health tops the list of priorities for retirees in Kenya, according to the 2024 survey by the Retirement Benefits Authority.
The report shows that 32 per cent of respondents cited personal health as their most important concern in retirement.
Buying food ranked second at 21 per cent, highlighting the pressure of daily living costs.
Educating children accounted for 14 per cent, while nine per cent said expanding business ventures was their key focus.
Four per cent prioritised educating their grandchildren.
The survey also examined how retirees feel about life after work. A majority, 51 per cent, said retirement life is better compared to their working years.
About 27 per cent described it as roughly the same, while 22 per cent felt it is not as good.
The findings underscore the central role of healthcare security and financial stability in shaping retirement experiences in Kenya.
