The business lobby of the United Democratic Alliance has raised concern over a series of recent consultative meetings reportedly held between the ruling party and a section of opposition ODM in Nairobi County.
Chairperson of the UDA Wanabiashara Caucus, Frank Mbogo, noted that some of the individuals attending on behalf of the ruling party were not formally registered or recogniaed within official party structures.
While acknowledging that dialogue across party lines is healthy for democracy, he said this has created confusion among bona fide grassroots members who expect clarity and proper representation in any engagement conducted under the party’s banner.
Mbogo urged the party leadership to step in and streamline the process, saying it was important to safeguard the trust of members and maintain orderly political engagement.
“Our grassroots delegates are the heart of the party. Such irregularities undermine the integrity, order and transparency that must guide all engagements conducted in the name of UDA Party,” he said.
The chair held that the ruling party should ensure that all forums bearing its name follow established procedures and include legitimate representatives.
Mbogo called for tidier coordination rather than confrontation. The fresh stance comes just a week after lobby warned the Orange Democratic Movement against pushing for the deputy president in negotiations.
Francis Mbogo, maintained that the position currently held by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is not subject to backroom deals despite mounting speculation of alliance reshuffles.
