The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned 22 Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and staff of the County Assembly of Bungoma as part of an ongoing investigation into the utilisation of public funds.

According to the Commission, the inquiry relates to a benchmarking trip to Uganda conducted in 2019.

The EACC is examining expenditure linked to the trip and activities surrounding the lighting of a Christmas tree at the Governor’s Office. 

The Commission said the combined cost of the activities amounted to Sh6,569,000.

The 22 officials have been directed to appear before detectives at the EACC Western Regional Office in Bungoma.

The appearances are scheduled on diverse dates between February 26, 2026 and March 9, 2026.

The summons forms part of investigations being conducted by the Commission into the utilisation of public funds linked to the activities.
