Artificial intelligence adoption across Africa shows varying levels of uptake, with South Africa emerging as the leading market in 2025.

Data indicates South Africa recording an AI adoption rate of 21.1 per cent, placing it well ahead of other countries on the continent.

Egypt follows with an adoption rate of 13.4 per cent, while Senegal and Tunisia register 12.9 per cent and 12.7 per cent respectively.

Morocco reports a rate of 10.9 per cent, positioning it among the higher adopters within North Africa.

Nigeria and Ghana each record adoption rates of 9.3 per cent, reflecting growing but still moderate integration of AI technologies.

Kenya follows with an adoption rate of 8.1 per cent, highlighting its place among Africa’s emerging digital economies.

Further down the ranking, Ethiopia registers 6.8 per cent, while Rwanda records 6.3 per cent. The figures illustrate both progress and disparities in technological diffusion across the continent.

The distribution suggests stronger adoption in more industrialised and digitally developed economies, with South Africa maintaining a clear lead. North African countries also feature prominently, reflecting expanding digital transformation efforts.

Overall, the data points to increasing AI uptake across Africa, though adoption levels remain uneven.

The rankings provide insight into where AI technologies are gaining traction and where further investment, infrastructure development, and skills expansion may be required to accelerate integration.
