Q Boutique Resort in Malindi / HANDOUT

When Romanian hotelier and entrepreneur Adrian Brinzoi first set foot in Kenya in 2022, he expected nothing more than a brief stop on a globe-spanning adventure.

Malindi was simply another pin on the map, a sunny detour before the New Year. But the town had other plans.

“It took just four days,” he recalls with a smile.

“Four days after I stepped into Malindi, I knew this was the place I wanted to build my next hotel.”

For a man who already owned four hotels in Romania, this was no impulsive decision. It was instinct, sharpened by experience and sealed by Malindi’s charm.

Kenya was his first visit to Africa, but something about the country’s warmth, climate, and untapped potential made his choice feel inevitable.

What followed was the birth of Q Boutique Resort, one of Malindi’s newest hospitality concepts and a bold, modern entrant into the coastal tourism scene.

Officially opened on 16 August 2025, Q Boutique Resort embodies Brinzoi’s philosophy of boutique luxury: intimate, stylish, culturally aware, and globally appealing.“It’s my first time opening a hotel in Kenya.

The idea was to create something fresh — a new concept that blends international standards with the spirit of Malindi,” Brinzoi told the Star.

The resort currently hosts 31 beds, offering a cosy, high-end environment designed for travelers seeking personal attention rather than the anonymity of massive resorts. But its ambitions are far from small.

Brinzoi is already planning an expansion of 80 more rooms, either next year or within two years, ultimately aiming for over 100 rooms. The demand, he says, is clear.

“We see the need not only for accommodation but for modern conference facilities. Malindi has incredible potential for business tourism. We want to adapt to the market’s needs.”

For Brinzoi, the answer is simple: Malindi is a jewel waiting to shine brighter.“The weather is perfect, the beaches are beautiful, and the people are welcoming,” he says. “But what struck me most was the opportunity for growth.”

Q Boutique has been designed with the various visitor needs in mind. The resort offers international cuisine, spacious modern rooms, and the kind of personalised service travellers increasingly expect in luxury spaces.

With room rates starting from 100 euros per night, the resort sits comfortably within the premium hospitality bracket — but without the pretence.
