Section of Nairobi MCAs led by Baba Dogo MCA and former City Mayor Geoffrey Majiwa issue a statement to defend Interior PS Dr Raymond Omollo following accusations by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino/HANDOUT

A section of Nairobi MCAs have defended Interior PS Dr Raymond Omollo over utterances by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino who accused the police of “unlawful” arrest his brother in law Geoffrey Ajiki.

The leaders led by Baba Dogo MCA and former City Mayor Geoffrey Majiwa asked Babu not to use unprinted words against the PS.

They asked the MP to let constitutional security bodies to do their work.

According to Majiwa it is only lawful for Babu to take his complain to police and record statement over the purported abduction of his in-law other making false accusations.

"We are here as leaders to defend Raymond and request the MP to stop politicising work of security apparatus. We want leaders who are accountable to their actions and if indeed Babu meant what he was saying the most lawful and honourable thing to do is to report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation DCI." Majiwa said.

He has also warned Babu and his political counterparts to stop raising the political temperature of nation as elections is still far away.

"Babu and his team should now desist from raising the Country's political temperature. They should stop from making unverified facts that may mislead the Public." He added.

The MCAs issued the statement just hours before another political showdown in Kakamega as ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna leads the Linda Mwananchi team for a rally in Kakamega town.

Babu has alleged that his brother-in-law was arrested by officers believed to be from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Speaking on Thursday evening, Owino claimed that his brother-in-law called him at around 4pm to report that he had been picked up by six DCI officers and was being taken to the Nairobi Area Police Headquarters.

However, Owino said efforts to trace him at the station were unsuccessful and that his phone had since been switched off.

Saturday’s Linda Mwananchi rally, which positions itself as anti-Ruto, will be holding the third public engagement.

Sifuna has insisted that the rally is lawful and properly communicated to authorities. Speaking on the floor of the Senate on Thursday, February 19, 2026, he dismissed claims that security agencies had not been informed.
