ODM wrangles to be ironed soon, MP says

Wrangles within ODM pitting the camps led by the party leader Oburu Odinga and embattled Secretary General Edwin Sifuna will soon be ironed out during a forthcoming national delegates conference, Ugunja Member of Parliament Moses Omondi has said.

According to Omondi, the differences that have seen the two camps host parallel rallies across the country are normal within democratic organisations where people are allowed to air their views on issues affecting the party.

He was speaking at Sigomere Secondary School in Ugunja subcounty during the issuance of bursary cheques to secondary school students.

“I believe that under the leadership of our party leader, Dr Oburu Oginga, things will normalise in the near future,” said the legislator adding “ the party is organising a national delegates conference meeting, which, I believe, will address the issues, after which things will normalise.

He said that the meeting will bring on board all the delegates, even those with divergent opinions, who will be given the opportunity to express themselves.

Omondi, who was elected during the November 2025 elections to succeed energy minister Opiyo Wandayi, who resigned to join the cabinet, said he was fully in support of the broad-based government, which he praised for development.

Addressing the occasion, Ugunja Constituency Development Fund chairman, Benard Omollo, said the fund has disbursed a total of Sh27 million to facilitate the education of more than 4,000 continuing students from the area.

He said that 4,646 students applied for bursaries, but after scrutiny and assessment, 4,019 succeeded in having their education funded by the CDF.
