Kenya’s public spending is set to rise steadily over the next financial year, according to data from the National Treasury.

The latest figures show expenditure increasing from Sh3.605 trillion in 2023/24 to Sh3.976 trillion in 2024/25. The 2025/26 budget estimates spending at Sh4.269 trillion, with projections indicating a further rise to Sh4.532 trillion.

This represents an increase of about Sh262.9 billion between the 2025/26 budget and the projected figure.

The upward trend underscores the government’s expanding fiscal commitments amid growing demand for public services, infrastructure development and debt obligations, as policymakers balance spending needs with revenue mobilisation efforts.
