The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has announced that Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene have dropped by Sh4.24, Sh3.93 and Sh1.00.

In Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene now retail at Sh178.28, Sh166.54 and Sh152.78, respectively, effective midnight for the next 30 days.

EPRA said the new fuel prices will take effect from February 15 to March 14.

"In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products which will be in force from 15th February 2026 to 14th March 2026," EPRA said.

"The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020."

According to EPRA, the purpose of the Petroleum Pricing Regulations is to cap the retail prices of petroleum products which are already in the country so that importation and other prudently incurred costs are recovered while ensuring reasonable prices to consumers.

"EPRA wishes to assure the public of its continued commitment to the observance of fair competition and protection of the interests of both consumers and investors in the energy and petroleum sectors."

Importers brought in a barrel of super petrol at $576.34, 2.69 per cent lower compared to $592.24, the previous import cycle.

They paid $586.8 for a barrel of diesel, 6.37% lower compared to $626.75, while a similar volume of kerosene was bought at $598.28, 1.4 per cent lower.

Global fuel prices have fallen significantly since December, with Brent crude dipping below $67 a barrel due to surging global supply and weakened demand forecasts.
