Kasarani Member of Parliament and SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri has hit back at the growing online scandal involving an alleged “scandalous video”, dismissing the claims as fabricated and extortionist in nature.
In a combative message aimed at blogger Edgar Obare, Karauri not only rejected the allegations but also issued a bold cash challenge — offering money if Obare can produce the so-called video by a strict deadline.

The drama has unfolded over the past week after social media feeds were awash with claims and discussions tying the MP to a private video that some allege shows compromising conduct.
Rather than letting the matter lie, Karauri took to Instagram to address the storm directly.

Fabricated, Says Karauri

In his response, Ronald Karauri was clear and unambiguous.

He described the entire saga — including the underlying content that has allegedly been shared or hinted at online — as fake.

According to Karauri, there is nothing to the claims, and he challenged the authenticity of the material circulating in public discourse.

“Maybe it’s the political season and people have their own agenda they want to push… So, Edgar, this fake story of yours is fabricated. I don’t know what agenda you are going to push if it’s about extortion,” Karauri said in his statement.

He added that he will provide money to Obare — on the condition that the blogger shares the alleged video on his platform before a set 5 PM deadline.

Karauri’s offer is not just a challenge; it’s a wager.

He vowed that if Obare fails to produce the video, he will donate KSh 2 million — specifically to support boxer Majembe’s fight, a popular showpiece event that has resonated with Kenyans and recently attracted presidential attention with President William Ruto’s cash support to both fighters.

“I have money for you and I can tell you how you can get it… I’ll give you money to share this video on your platform,” Karauri said — echoing his rejection of the extortion allegation.

He has positioned the money challenge as both a test of evidence and a way to visibly penalise what he dismisses as baseless accusations.

If the scandal video exists and Obare can prove it, Karauri will pay.

If it doesn’t, Karauri says he’ll put his money where his mouth is by supporting a public cause — Majembe’s fight — which carries its own cultural and social cachet.

For his part, Karauri has also publicly refuted other personal claims tied to the scandal narrative circulating online, including a straight denial of accusations about his personal life — though he framed that part of his statement with humour, saying he is “extremely straight” and that any future issues he might have would be “with women”.
