The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has set up a new VVIP Lounge to provide couples with a more dignified and personalised setting for civil marriages, just days before Valentine’s Day, one of the busiest periods for such unions.
The facility, established ahead of the Valentine’s season, is designed to offer a serene, welcoming and respectful environment for couples choosing to formalise their unions through civil marriage.
According to the OAG, the new lounge is part of efforts to improve service delivery and enhance the overall experience for citizens marking one of life’s most important milestones.
“Earlier today, the Office of the Attorney General hosted a civil marriage ceremony at the newly established VVIP Lounge,” the Office said in a statement.
The successful ceremony marked the first official use of the facility and signalled the Office’s readiness to handle an expected increase in couples seeking to tie the knot around Valentine’s Day.
The OAG said the new space was created to move away from conventional office settings and instead provide an atmosphere that reflects the significance of marriage.
“The facility, set up ahead of the Valentine’s season, is designed to provide a dignified, serene and welcoming environment for the solemnization of civil unions,” the statement added.
Civil marriages conducted through the AG's Office have grown in popularity in recent years, particularly among couples seeking a simple, legally recognized and time-efficient process.
The introduction of the VVIP Lounge is aimed at making the experience more memorable and respectful while maintaining the efficiency associated with civil ceremonies.
“The successful hosting of the ceremony marks a significant step in enhancing the quality of service delivery at the Office, while creating a more personalised and respectful experience for couples choosing to formalise their unions through civil marriage,” the Office said.
The new lounge features a calm and private setting intended to accommodate couples, their witnesses and a small number of guests in a comfortable environment.
The space is elegantly decorated with white draped interiors, floral arrangements in red and white, and a flower-lined ceremonial aisle leading to a raised platform where vows are exchanged.

White guest chairs are neatly arranged to create an intimate atmosphere, while a floral arch provides a picturesque backdrop for the ceremony.
The signing area is set on a red-carpeted stage, furnished with a modern desk, ceremonial chairs and decorative flower accents, giving the setting the feel of a formal yet warm celebration space.
The initiative is seen as part of broader reforms within the state law office focused on improving public services and making government spaces more citizen-centred.
“The establishment of the VVIP Lounge reflects the Office’s broader commitment to continuous improvement, citizen-centred services and the creation of spaces that uphold the dignity and importance of key life milestones,” the statement said.
With Valentine’s Day traditionally attracting a high number of couples seeking to exchange vows, officials expect the facility to play a key role in managing demand while ensuring quality service.
“As Valentine’s Day approaches, the new facility adds a meaningful touch to celebrations of love, commitment and partnership,” the Office added.
The OAG is expected to host a number of civil marriage ceremonies in the coming days as couples take advantage of the season to formalise their relationships.
