Musician Samidoh has sparked fresh reactions online after sharing a cryptic post that many interpreted as a subtle jab at his former partner, Karen Nyamu.
The post quickly caught the attention of fans, reopening conversations about one of Kenya’s most talked-about celebrity relationships and reigniting debate over whether the singer was revisiting a painful chapter from his past.
The Post That Reignited Debate
Samidoh’s recent Facebook post has drawn renewed attention. While offering what appeared to be general relationship advice, the musician wrote:
“Build a friendship before marrying someone — Karen proverb.”
The remark immediately triggered mixed reactions, with some fans applauding the humour while others viewed it as an unnecessary dig at his ex.
A Once-High-Profile Relationship
Samidoh and Nyamu were once among the country’s most scrutinised celebrity couples. Their relationship dominated headlines for years, largely because it unfolded publicly while the musician was married to Edday Nderitu. At the height of their romance, few Kenyans believed the two would ever part ways.
However, Nyamu later claimed she was the one who ended the relationship, insisting she had no intention of rekindling it.
The two share three children together, and for a long time, their love affair played out openly on social media and at public events.

Impact on Samidoh’s Marriage
The relationship placed immense strain on Samidoh’s marriage to Edday. At various points, Edday took to social media to express her distress, publicly asking her husband to respect their family and marriage.
Nyamu, on her part, occasionally fired back with pointed remarks aimed at Edday — exchanges that drew sharp criticism from the public and intensified the already heated discourse surrounding the love triangle.
Edday’s Relocation to the US
Tensions escalated further when Edday relocated to the United States. At the time, many fans believed the move was temporary. She later revealed that it was a permanent decision made to protect her children’s emotional wellbeing.

According to Edday, the ongoing drama had begun to deeply affect her daughters, particularly the eldest. She maintained that remaining in Kenya would have caused lasting harm, prompting her decision to start afresh abroad.
Nyamu Admits Failed Co-Wife Relationship
During the height of the controversy, Nyamu admitted that her attempts to form a cordial relationship with Edday had failed.
In one particularly controversial moment, she referred to Edday as “the First Lady” — a comment that further fuelled public backlash and widened the divide between the two women.

A Turning Point After Family Intervention
Samidoh later reflected on the turmoil surrounding his personal life during the memorial service of his adoptive father, James Gitahi.
He revealed that his father had confronted him directly about the endless online drama and firmly advised him to put an end to it.
The musician recalled how his adoptive mother had consistently prayed for him, hoping the scandals would eventually stop. He described his father’s advice as stern and authoritative, likening it to a command from a colonel — guidance he says ultimately marked the end of the public saga.
