The highly publicised bout between Alfayo Siwo and Majembe came about after Majembe issued a direct boxing challenge.

According to Alfayo, the challenge quickly gained traction among fans, creating significant public interest and pressure for the match to happen.

Due to the growing hype, Alfayo accepted the challenge, citing the influence of fan demand as a key factor in his decision.

To facilitate the match, Alfayo mobilised a group of boxers who came together to help sponsor the event.

Through collective contributions, the group raised KSh 130,000, which was used to cater for tournament-related expenses.

Alfayo confirmed that he was the organiser of the match, overseeing the coordination and logistical aspects leading up to the event.

The boxing match was eventually held on 26th December.

Following the showdown, Alfayo stated that the fighters were paid KSh 1,637.

Going into the bout, Alfayo said he had anticipated a draw as the possible outcome. However, the match concluded with Majembe emerging as the winner.

Reflecting on the circumstances surrounding the fight, Alfayo explained that when the challenge was first presented, he had not been actively training.

Despite this, he felt compelled to proceed with the match due to the pressure from fans and the broader impact the cancellation might have had on the boxing scene.

He noted that stepping away from the challenge could have negatively affected both the sport and Majembe’s momentum at the time.

Alfayo also revealed that he was facing additional pressure because he had been suspended from boxing during that period.

Despite these challenges, public demand for the fight continued to grow, further reinforcing the push to have the match take place as scheduled.

Following the match, Majembe experienced a significant rise in popularity on social media platforms.

Alfayo noted that this period marked the widespread recognition of Majembe’s now-famous phrase, “Challenge, challenge!!,” which has since become closely associated with his brand and public image.

Beyond the fight itself, Alfayo shared a message directed at boxing fans and aspiring athletes.

He advised them not to give up, describing boxing as a journey that requires patience and consistency.

He emphasized that progress in the sport does not happen overnight and encouraged individuals to remain committed even when immediate results are not visible.
