Leading global universities are being recognised for excellence in education studies, with institutions from the United States, United Kingdom and China dominating the 2026 subject rankings.

Stanford University tops the list with a score of 96.0, reflecting outstanding performance across teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement and international outlook.

The United States claims a strong presence, with the University of California, Berkeley ranking second (94.1) and Harvard University sixth (89.8).

The University of Michigan–Ann Arbor also features in ninth place, reinforcing the country’s strength in research-led teacher education and policy studies.

The United Kingdom follows closely. The University of Oxford ranks third (92.9), while the University of Cambridge takes fourth (91.6).

UCL secures the tenth position (83.0), highlighting the UK’s long-standing influence in pedagogy research, curriculum studies and global education policy.

China also makes a significant impact. Tsinghua University ranks fifth (90.2), and Peking University eighth (86.2), demonstrating Asia’s growing role in shaping education research and innovation.

The University of Hong Kong, placed seventh (87.5), further underscores the region’s academic competitiveness.

These rankings assess universities across five core pillars: teaching quality, research environment, research quality, industry links and international outlook. Higher scores indicate stronger overall performance and global impact in education studies.
