
Kenya’s inflation highlights for January 2026 show that overall inflation in December 2025 stood at 4.5 per cent, according to the Central Bank of Kenya.
Core inflation was recorded at 2.2 per cent, driven by price increases in beef with bone (8.2 per cent), sugar (7.9 per cent) and sifted maize flour (7.1 per cent).
Prices of cooking oil, fresh-packed cow milk and non-aromatic white rice declined slightly.
Non-core inflation stood at 10.3 per cent, with sharp increases in cabbage (35.5 per cent), onions (16.5 per cent) and tomatoes (9.6 per cent).
Electricity and gas prices also rose marginally.
