Kenya Breweries Limited, through Johnnie Walker, has committed Sh68 million to support the 2026 Magical Kenya Open, one of Africa’s longest-running professional golf tournaments.

The sponsorship is split into Sh12 million in cash and Sh56 million in in-kind support, which will go toward tournament logistics, operations, and fan engagement.

Johnnie Walker will serve as the Official Alcohol Beverage Partner, providing hospitality and entertainment at the tournament village, while enhancing the overall experience for spectators and partners.

The 57th Magical Kenya Open will be held from February 19–22 at Karen Country Club in Nairobi. The event is expected to feature 144 professional golfers competing for a Sh348.3 million prize purse, making it a key stop on the DP World Tour.

Speaking at the sponsorship announcement, KBL General Manager, Spirits, Alvin Mbugua, said the company sees golf as a platform that combines discipline and performance.

“Golf in Kenya has grown steadily over the years, and our role is to help make the event better organised and more enjoyable for players and fans,” said Mbugua.

KOGL Chairman Patrick Obath welcomed the funding, noting that consistent partnerships like this allow organisers to plan the tournament confidently.

“Support from partners like KBL enables us to improve logistics, hospitality, and the fan experience. We expect a stronger field and a seamless tournament this year,” Obath said.

The sponsorship also builds on Johnnie Walker’s continued investment in player development across the region, including the Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing and the PGK Equator Tour, which provide professional golfers with competitive experience and a pathway to higher-level tournaments.
