Angelic Voices is a fast-rising gospelchoir group made up of three talented young ladies: Veronica Odeyo, Teresa Otieno, and Caren Onyango.

Though their harmony sounds seasoned and intentional, the trio’s journey into the gospel spotlight began unexpectedly—through a simple TikTok cover challenge that would soon change their lives.

The group first came into the limelight in October last year after recording a cover of “Ruoth Okwero Tutamoru,” a Luo gospel song originally sung by Brother Moses.

The cover was posted on Prince Johannes’ TikTok account, and what started as a casual creative experiment quickly turned into a viral moment.

Within hours, the video spread widely across TikTok, drawing admiration for its deep spirituality, cultural richness, and the trio’s angelic vocal blend.

The momentum grew so strong that it eventually caught the attention of Awiko Jakabunde, a well-known producer from Wema Records—a clear sign that Angelic Voices had struck a chord far beyond their immediate audience.

“It Was Never the Plan at First” — Veronica Odeyo

In an exclusive interview, Veronica Odeyo revealed that forming a gospel group was not part of their original plan.

“Forming Angelic Voices was not our intention at first… What happened was that we wanted to do a TikTok cover challenge, and I proposed we do ‘Ruoth Okwero’ just for fun," she said.

She then continued, ''And within 24 hours, the video had over 100k views. That’s when we organised a meeting, and Prince Johannes was present and proposed we form a group and call it Angelic Voices.”

That meeting marked the birth of Angelic Voices—not as a rushed reaction to viral fame, but as a thoughtful decision grounded in purpose, faith, and shared vision.

Facing the Gospel Music Challenge — Caren Onyango

Despite their growing popularity, the trio is fully aware of the challenges facing gospel musicians today, especially among younger audiences.

Caren Onyango openly addressed this reality, noting the changing listening habits among Kenyan youth.
“One of the main challenges we have is the fact that currently, youths are not listening to gospel music, she said.
''Watu wanaskiza urbatone especially hapa Kenya. It’s very tough to get their attention, but we try as much as possible to sing a song that communicates and reminds us about the importance of religion,” she confirmed it firmly.

Rather than compromising their message, Angelic Voices has chosen a different approach—creating gospel music that is relatable, culturally rooted, and spiritually impactful.

Preserving Luo Gospel and Faith — Teresa Otieno

For Teresa Otieno, Angelic Voices is more than a music group—it is a mission.

“We target to promote Luo gospel songs… We want to maintain that culture about the Legion Maria of African Church Mission’s faith and beliefs. We want to communicate and spread the gospel using our songs, and that’s our end game.”
