In a notice dated January 21, 2026, the UDA National Elections Board said the decision was reached after deliberations by the National Executive Committee and the Elections and Nominations Dispute Resolution Committee over the recently concluded grassroots polls.

According to the notice, the party will conduct repeat elections for Phase III on March 7, 2026, and Phase II on March 28, 2026. The exercise will take place in select polling centres across the 42 counties.

The registration period for the repeat Phase II and Phase III grassroots elections opened on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, and will close on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

The notice clarifies that party members who were aspirants in the earlier exercise do not need to register again. However, new aspirants are required to register within the new timelines.

“All Party Members, who were aspirants, do not need to register, however new aspirants are required to register within the new timelines,” the board stated.

Previously registered aspirants have also been advised to verify whether their polling centres are affected by the repeat exercise and participate accordingly.

For Phase II repeat grassroots elections scheduled for March 28, 2026, the notice lists 22 counties where the exercise will be conducted. These are Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Taita Taveta, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Turkana, Kajiado, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira.

The National Elections Board said the repeat elections follow concerns raised after the conclusion of the earlier grassroots polls, which prompted a review by the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms.

The notice was issued under reference number UDA/1/NEB/RPT/26 and signed by the National Elections Board chairman, Anthony Mwaura.

The party urged affected members and aspirants to take note of the timelines and verify their polling centres ahead of the repeat exercise.

UDA conducts grassroots elections as part of its internal party processes to elect officials at ward, constituency and county levels.

The repeat polls are expected to give affected members an opportunity to participate in the party’s grassroots leadership structures in line with the party’s electoral framework.
