Ulinzi Starlets' squad / HANDOUT
Ulinzi Starlets head coach Collins Ochieng believes his side is well-positioned for a decisive second-half push in the FKF Women’s Premier League after moving into second place following a 2-0 victory over Kibera Soccer Women.
The win at the Ulinzi Sports Complex lifted the soldiers to 26 points, just two behind defending champions Kenya Police Bullets, who lead the standings on 28.
Four-time winners Vihiga Queens sit close behind on 25 points, while Trinity Starlets and Zetech Sparks remain firmly in contention on 24 and 21 points respectively.
Ochieng views the congested title race as an opportunity rather than a threat as the season enters its decisive phase. Having taken charge in December 2024 following the departure of Stephen Ocholla, the tactician says the foundations being laid now are designed to ensure his team peaks at the right time.
“Winning each game is our main agenda as we want to win the league, and I urge my players to take each match as a final,” Ochieng said. “This period is about preparing ourselves to finish the season strongly.”

Beyond immediate results, the coach is focused on building a more complete and resilient Ulinzi side capable of handling pressure in the closing rounds.
"I love their resilience, discipline and determination, and I have no doubt that they will make the team at large proud,” he added.
Ochieng is also keen to reinforce his squad before the mid-season transfer window closes on February 2, 2026.
He revealed that two new signings are close to being finalised to strengthen the defence and midfield. “We are on the last stage of acquiring two new players to bolster the squad, and we are not releasing any players,” he said, adding that their impact is expected to be felt in the coming weeks.
The coach believes depth, fitness and belief will be crucial as the title race intensifies, noting that the absence of major injury concerns places Ulinzi in a strong position to maintain their challenge.
Looking ahead, Ulinzi will face bottom-placed Kisped Queens before a crucial clash with fifth-placed Zetech Sparks in fixtures that could shape their title ambitions. With momentum building and reinforcements on the way, Ochieng insists consistency — not reputation — will ultimately decide where the FKF Women’s Premier League crown lands.
