Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi with his lawyer Okong'o Omogeni at Narok Law court/KIPLAGAT KIRUI

Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi was on Wednesday arraigned at the Narok Law Courts on charges of assault and malicious property damage.

Charge sheets presented before the court indicate that on November 27, 2025, Kibagendi is alleged to have been involved in an incident in which assault causing actual bodily harm was reported against a man identified as Astarico Omariba Moriasi in Kisii Township.

The incident is said to have occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m.

The charges further indicate that property, including an iPhone Pro Max valued at Sh230,000 and said to belong to Moriasi, was willfully and unlawfully damaged during the incident.

In addition, the court was told that four plates and a cup valued at about Sh20,000 were damaged at the premises of Java House.

Kibagendi appeared before Resident Magistrate Esther Mwikali at the Narok Law Courts and denied the charges.

He was released on a Sh200,000 bond or Sh100,000 cash bail pending further court proceedings.

He was represented by lawyer and Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni, who claimed the arrest was politically motivated.

Former Kisii Woman Representative Janet Ongera, who was also present, defended the MP, describing him as a young leader and urging the government to stop gagging emerging leaders.

The matter has been scheduled for mention on February 2, 2026, when the court will review the progress of the case and issue further directions.
