Popular American Streamer IshowSpeed, who has more than 30 million subscribers on YouTube, was livestreaming from the Ultras Algerie FC stadium when the situation escalated.

Fans in the stands began throwing water bottles toward him during an ongoing football match.“I am not welcomed here,” he said.

Clips from the livestream show Speed attempting to dodge the objects as they landed near him, visibly shaken by the unfolding events.

Why the Ultras Reacted

A number of TikTok users explained that the reaction was not because they disliked Speed, but because of Ultras groups in Algeria often cover their faces and avoid photos or videos to protect their identity, because being recorded can lead to trouble with rival fans or authorities.

“When Speed went to the stadium, Algerian ultras fans threw water on him. It wasn’t about hating Speed—they actually like him. The issue was the camera. Ultras don’t like being filmed, especially their faces, because it can cause serious problems with rival fans. It’s still wrong, but that’s their mentality Also, the promotional video tries to make Algeria look bad. That clip was filmed before he entered the stadium, and he was warming his hands.”

“Ultra supporter culture is clear: they don’t like being filmed. That’s why they sing in the stadium with their faces covered. It’s tradition and respect.welcome to Algeria ?? speed”

“In Algeria, there are organized football supporter groups called “ultras” who protect their anonymity and do not allow photos or videos. Being filmed can put them in serious trouble, so they reacted out of anger, not hatred. Unfortunately, some people threw water bottles in the stadium, and we sincerely apologize to Speed for that behavior. This does not represent all Algerian supporters or Algerians in general. We respect Speed and hope he accepts our apology.”
