Kenyan digital content creator and entrepreneur Kemunto Diana, widely known as Shes Kemunto, is transitioning from social media commentary to active matchmaking.

In an exclusive chat with Mpasho’s Moses Sagwe, she revealed plans for a premium WhatsApp dating initiative designed to bring "intentional" daters together.

The move follows years of Kemunto sharing anonymous confessions about the toxic Nairobi dating scene and health risks. She now intends to use her platform to help her followers find genuine connections rather than just highlighting the city's relationship pitfalls.

Why WhatsApp Over Traditional Apps?

While many use apps like Tinder or Bumble, Kemunto is opting for a more personal touch. She describes regular dating apps in Kenya as "digital catalogues" where people browse with no intention of committing.

These platforms, she says, are often filled with catfish and people looking for quick thrills.

WhatsApp, by contrast, removes the veil of anonymity. Because users’ names and phone numbers are attached to their actions, Kemunto believes it fosters a more accountable community.

"I chose WhatsApp because it is intimate. It’s where Kenyans actually live their lives... In a group, your name and your number are attached to your actions,” she said.

Vetting and Safety Measures

Safety is a primary concern for the initiative. Kemunto is leveraging her massive database of "bad actors"—individuals previously exposed in her confessions—to vet applicants.

“I’m looking for the 'Intentional dater.' I’m vetting based on maturity and a shared understanding of the She's Kemunto philosophy. This isn't for the person looking for a one-night stand,” she firmly stated.

To protect high-profile or discreet individuals, Kemunto is offering "Ghost Profiles" or a premium tier where she acts as a direct bridge without them entering the public group.

For regular members, she maintains a strict policy against doxing or leaking numbers, with the threat of being publicly shamed within the community as a deterrent.

A Shift in Philosophy

For a creator known for her "city girl" survival tips, this matchmaking service marks an evolution.

Kemunto clarifies that she is not moving away from her roots but is now offering a solution for those who have survived the "streets" and want a stable home.

“I’m looking for individuals who are tired of the games and want a space where everyone has already agreed to the ‘ground rules’ of respect and transparency.”

Her initiative aims to promote a "test before you chest" culture, encouraging sexual health literacy alongside emotional connection.

“It’s not an extension of transactional culture; it’s an attempt to find genuine connection in a world that has become way too transactional,” she added.
