Gor Mahia’s latest signing, Jackson Dwang, has vowed to deliver fireworks on the pitch, a week after his blockbuster move from Posta Rangers.

The South Sudanese midfielder joins the record Kenyan champions during a pivotal phase of the SportPesa League as K’Ogalo chase a 22nd title.

Dwang’s arrival comes as a timely boost for Gor Mahia, who are aiming to maintain momentum after losing 2023/24 MVP Austine Odhiambo to Lebanese club Nejmeh SC.

The 22-year-old brings pace, creativity and goal threat to a squad preparing for the second half of a highly competitive season.

In an exclusive interview on Tuesday, Dwang expressed excitement and determination.

“This is a dream come true,” he said. “Gor Mahia is a historic club, and the expectations here are huge. I am ready to embrace the challenge.”

“My goal is to create chances, score goals and help the team win. Every match counts, and I intend to make an immediate impact.”

Dwang described the move as a chance to grow both as a player and as a competitor: “I wanted a club where the pressure is high and every game matters. Gor Mahia provides that platform.”

The departure of Austine Odhiambo left a notable gap in Gor Mahia’s attacking setup. Dwang is confident he can rise to the occasion.

“Austine was a fantastic player, and I respect what he achieved here,” he said. “I’m not here to replace him, but I will bring my own energy and style to the team.”

Coach Charles Akonnor welcomed Dwang’s arrival, citing his league experience and international exposure: "Jackson is a dynamic midfielder who will give us more creativity and options in the middle of the pack. He is exactly the type of player we need for the title run.”

Dwang admitted several top clubs had pursued him but explained why Gor Mahia was his choice.

“Kenya Police, AFC Leopards and Nairobi United all wanted me,” he said. “But Gor Mahia felt like the right challenge — a club with history, ambition and the expectation to win every match.”

“My priority is consistency. I want to help the team and continue improving as a player.”

Dwang will face immediate pressure, with vicious encounters against dreaded opponents looming.

“These are the matches every player dreams of — the fans, the atmosphere, the intensity. I’m ready for it.”

“To the fans, I promise to give my all on the pitch. I am here to work, fight and make you proud.”

He views Gor Mahia as a springboard for further growth: “This club provides exposure and the chance to test myself at a high level. If I perform well, opportunities internationally may come.”

“The expectations here are high, but that motivates me. I am focused, ready, and excited for this new chapter.”
