
Mother to former Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage, Aisha Jumwa, has been laid to rest in Kilifi.
Jumwa's mother, Sidi Karisa passed away on Sunday after a short illness.
Jumwa described her mother as the pillar and heart of the family, noting that she lived a life defined by love, kindness and dignity.
The burial was attended by hundreds of mourners including key politicians.
"We are profoundly humbled by the outpouring of love, prayers, and respect shown to our family," Jumwa said.

"The presence of esteemed leaders, religious scholars, community members, and thousands of Kilifians was a true testament to the life our mother lived and the values she upheld," she added.
Among those present were ODM party leader Oburu Odinga, the Speaker of the Senate Amason Jeffa Kingi, and Cabinet Secretaries Hassan Joho and Salim Mvurya.
PS Fikirini Jacobs, Governors Anne Waiguru, Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, Gideon Mung’aro and Fatuma Achani were also present.
Senators Steward Madzayo and Faki Mohammed; Members of Parliament Owen Baya, Haika Mizighi, Getrude Mbeyu, Kennedy Tungule, Amina Mnyazi, Mishi Mboko, Ruweidha Mohammed, Paul Katana, and Feisal Bader were also in attendance.
