President William Ruto arrived at Raila Odinga Stadium to watch the finals of Genowa football tournament in Homa Bay town.

President Ruto is hosted by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga who is the chief sponsor of the tournament.

The tournament which is on its third edition since Governor Wanga took office is meant to fight triple threat in Homa Bay County.

Triple threat include HIV infection, gender based violence (GBV) and teen pregnancies.

The annual tournament is conducted during holidays to reduce idleness among youths and adolescents.

According to Homa Bay County sports director Collins Kalee, the tournament composts football Boys and Girls, Netball, Volleyball and Paralympics.

The tournament is started at the ward level, proceeds to constituency level and finally at the county level.

"Such tournaments enable us to identify and nurture talent of young boys and girls.

We're using to fight the triple threat menace in the county," Kalee said.

Minyere and Lala played the final in football men.

Kalee said winner at the men football gets Sh1million while runner's up is given sh500,000.

In Netball, winner gets Sh200,000 and runners up is given Sh150,000.

"Officials from various clubs in the league are in attendance. They are able to pick good players," he said.
