While Christmas is widely celebrated around the world, several countries do not observe the holiday, largely due to religious, cultural or political reasons.
In nations where Islam is the dominant religion, such as Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Iran, Christmas is not a public holiday and celebrations are limited or discouraged.
North Korea does not officially celebrate Christmas, as the state promotes loyalty to its leaders over religious observance.
In countries like Somalia and Yemen, ongoing conflict and strict religious norms also limit Christmas activities. Elsewhere, Christmas may pass as an ordinary working day rather than a festive occasion.
