The first thing I noticed when I arrived at Superior Hotels’ Lake Naivasha Resort was not the scenery — although the lake, wildlife and open skies are undeniably breathtaking — but the feeling.

There was an ease to the welcome, a quiet attentiveness from the staff that made it clear this was not just another check-in. It felt thoughtful. Personal. Almost instinctive.
As the hours passed, that feeling only deepened. At Superior Hotels’ Lake Naivasha Resort, hospitality is not transactional. It is emotional.

Every interaction is built around care, comfort and connection, ensuring guests do not simply stay — they belong.
To understand how this philosophy translates into daily experiences, I spent time with the people behind the scenes, starting with the heart of any hotel: the kitchen.

Where Stories Begin in the Kitchen
Food often carries the strongest emotional memory of a place, and at Superior Hotels’ Lake Naivasha Resort, that memory is carefully curated.
Executive Chef Bismark Wukhabano approaches cuisine as more than presentation or technique. For him, food is familiarity, warmth and reassurance.
Chef Wukhabano trained at Kenya Utalii College between 2003 and 2005, specialising in food production. He went on to spend nearly 13 years with the Serena Group of Hotels, working across multiple properties in Kenya and beyond, including stints in Uganda, Rwanda and Mozambique.
The exposure, he explains, sharpened his understanding of cultural diversity and guest expectations.

Before joining Superior Hotels’ Lake Naivasha Resort, he served as Executive Chef at Go Mazarenas, where he refined his expertise in conference and high-volume dining — a skillset that now defines much of the resort’s culinary excellence.
One dish, however, continues to stand out above the rest: Mbuzi choma. Sourced from Molo and prepared with a careful balance of seasoning and technique, it has become a firm favourite among local and visiting guests alike. Some conference attendees, the chef notes with a smile, request it repeatedly throughout their stay.

Yet despite its popularity, balance remains central to the menu philosophy. “Guests love familiarity,” he explains, “but they also appreciate thoughtful variety.” And variety is exactly what the dining experience delivers.
A Menu Designed for Every Guest
Dining at Superior Hotels’ Lake Naivasha Resort mirrors the diversity of its guests. Alongside Kenyan favourites are international selections crafted to global standards. Norwegian salmon, for instance, has become increasingly popular, with the kitchen often preparing up to ten portions a day.
What matters most to Chef Wukhabano is consistency. Guests must trust that what they order will arrive exactly as promised — every time. That assurance, he believes, is the foundation of exceptional service.
This attention to detail is especially evident during conferences, where inclusivity takes centre stage. The resort recognises that guests arrive with different health needs, dietary restrictions and cultural preferences.
As a result, conference menus include a rotating “healthy corner” — a thoughtful selection of oil-free and salt-free meals such as fish, chicken, boiled beef or goat, served with brown rice, wimbugali or steamed vegetables.

Flexibility is key. Should a guest require something outside the standard menu, the kitchen is always ready to adapt. “Everyone who comes here must eat,” the chef says simply, “and leave happy.”
Among his personal recommendations are the Norwegian salmon, lightly seared and finished with pepper lemon sauce and chard onions, and the lamb chops, marinated with garlic and thyme and served with thyme gravy or mint sauce — dishes that reflect both skill and soul.
Wellness as a Way of Life
The care at Superior Hotels’ Lake Naivasha Resort extends far beyond the dining table. Wellness here is not an afterthought; it is an essential part of the guest journey.

Winnie, the Head of the Wellness Centre, describes the space as one designed for holistic renewal — catering to physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
The facility brings together a fully equipped gym, a swimming pool and a spa offering treatments such as Swedish, deep tissue and hot stone massages. Guests can also enjoy salon services or browse the on-site bazaar.

What makes the wellness experience stand out is intention. It is not framed as indulgence, but as restoration — especially for conference guests or travellers seeking balance after long days.
The result is a stay that feels complete, grounded and deeply rejuvenating.
Afro Christmas by the Lake
And now, as the festive season approaches, Superior Hotels’ Lake Naivasha Resort is preparing to elevate this sense of connection even further.
