Global ride-hailing giant Uber has unveiled a new and exciting service in Kenya, dubbed“Uber Safari”, designed to give users a seamless way to book game drives at Nairobi National Park.
The service, which is now officially available, allows riders to experience Kenya’s world-renowned wildlife through the same Uber app they use for everyday rides.
According to Uber’s announcement, day trips will cost KSh 25,000, while night drives are set at KSh 40,000. The pricing reflects the premium nature of the safari experience, which will include professional guides, designated safari vehicles, and the convenience of cashless booking.
How Uber Safari Works
The Uber Safari service will operate using specially branded safari vehicles, fitted to handle the terrain of Nairobi National Park.
Riders will be able to request the service directly from the Uber app, just like they would for UberX or Uber ChapChap.
Once booked, the Uber Safari vehicle will pick passengers from designated points, transport them to the park, and provide a guided drive through the wildlife reserve.
The safari vehicles have been customized for comfort and visibility, making it possible for passengers to enjoy unobstructed views of lions, giraffes, rhinos, and other wildlife that the park is famous for.
Each trip will also include a certified tour guide who provides insights about the animals and the park’s conservation efforts.

Why Nairobi National Park?
Nairobi National Park is one of the most unique wildlife reserves in the world, located just a short drive from the city centre.
Visitors can experience a wide variety of wild animals roaming freely with Nairobi’s skyline in the background — a rare urban-safari experience that has long made the park a top attraction for both locals and tourists.
By integrating safari bookings into its platform, Uber aims to make the park more accessible to people who may not traditionally use tour operators.
For busy Nairobians looking for a quick day trip or international tourists who prefer the simplicity of app-based bookings, Uber Safari is positioned as a modern solution.
Boost to Tourism and Innovation
The launch comes at a time when Kenya’s tourism industry is recovering strongly, following years of pandemic disruptions.
With the growing demand for tech-enabled services, Uber Safari could reshape how tourists and residents plan excursions.
Kenya has long been recognized as the home of safari tourism, and Uber’s entry into this space highlights both the potential of digital platforms and the appeal of Kenya’s wildlife.
Tourism experts suggest that Uber Safari could open up new markets, particularly younger, tech-savvy travelers who value convenience and flexibility.

Public Reaction
The announcement has generated buzz online, with many Kenyans surprised but intrigued by the new offering. While some have expressed concerns about the steep pricing, others see it as an innovative way to blend technology with culture and wildlife.
If successful, Uber Safari could expand beyond Nairobi National Park to other reserves across Kenya and even to other African countries.
For now, the service marks a new chapter in how technology and tradition can merge, offering visitors a chance to explore Kenya’s iconic wildlife in the most modern way possible — with just a tap of a button.
