A man was arrested after he attacked and killed his brother in a domestic fight in Bonyunyu village, Nyamira County.
The body of George Momanyi, 54, was found lying in a pool of blood in a banana plantation minutes after his murder on Saturday dawn, police said.
He had earlier picked a quarrel with his brother over unknown reasons before it turned physical.
The assailant, who is the younger brother, chased the deceased into a banana plantation, where he hit him fatally.
A relative said he saw the assailant walk back to his house holding a piece of blood-stained wood and knew something was wrong.
By then, Momanyi was nowhere to be seen and was not responding to calls. A search was mounted, and the body was found lying about 200 metres away.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. The assailant was arrested for murder, police said.
In Homa Bay, an eight-year-old girl drowned in a river near the Kogelo-Kalanya area. The body of the girl was found floating in the river long after the drowning, police said.

In Chepseon, Londiani, Kericho County, a 16-year-old boy drowned in a dam during a swimming session.
Police said the boy drowned in Kipsigor Dam on Friday afternoon.
He was among a group of children who ventured into the water for swimming. His body was retrieved a day later and moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said.
In Keringet, Kuresoi, Nakuru County, a man was arrested over the murder of his wife following a domestic fight.
The deceased woman, identified as Joyce Yegon, was found dead with stab wounds.
The suspect was arrested hours later and handed over to the local police for processing ahead of arraignment.
Police in Molo, Nakuru County, are also investigating the death of a man whose body was found lying along the Molo–Nakuru highway.
The deceased was identified as Peter Mwangi, 32. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
In Cherengany, Trans Nzoia County, a gang attacked and robbed residents in the town of their cash and electronics.
Police said the gang robbed petrol attendants and other shopkeepers of Sh115,000 and other valuables before escaping.
The gang had arrived on a motorcycle while armed with crude weapons.
In Koibatek, Baringo County, a driver transporting clinker was robbed of cash and other valuables as he attended to his lorry.
He was also injured in the attack in the Blue Gum area, police said. The victim said he was attending to a mechanical problem involving a damaged pressure pipe when a gang emerged from a thicket and attacked him on Sunday night.
He was admitted to a local hospital as police launched a hunt for the attackers.
Meanwhile, police in Makueni have joined prison officials in the search for a defilement suspect who escaped from a hospital bed.
The suspect, identified as Enock Nzioka, had been admitted to Makueni Level IV Referral Hospital and escaped while under the watch of officers from Makueni Remand Prison.
Local officials have joined in the hunt for the suspect.
