League leaders Trinity Starlets saw their unbeaten run ended dramatically as defending champions Kenya Police Bullets ran riot in theWomen’s Premier League on Sunday.

The result served as a wake-up call for Trinity ahead of the festive break. Trinity arrived at the clash top of the table, buoyed by a 1–0 win over Ulinzi Starlets the previous weekend.

Their discipline and structured gameplay had made them formidable this season. However, Police Bullets, themselves in fine form after emphatic wins including 6–0 over Gideon Starlets and 4–0 against Bungoma Queens, dismantled Trinity’s system with clinical efficiency.

The match was effectively decided inside the first half-hour. Lorna Nyabuto opened the scoring in just the second minute and doubled her tally in the 14th.

Emily Morang’a headed in a third two minutes later. Puren Alukwe added another in the 26th minute, followed by Maggy’s strike on the half-hour mark, leaving Trinity chasing the game far earlier than planned.

Police continued their dominance after the break. Alukwe completed her brace in the 51st minute, with Morang’a following a minute later. Diana Wacera sealed the rout in the 67th minute, marking her eighth goal of the season and underlining Police’s depth and attacking prowess.

Trinity head coach Silvanus Wesonga admitted the opening phase was decisive. “We have been consistent all season, but today we were punished for our mistakes,” he said, citing poor spacing, slow defensive transitions, and lapses in communication.

Wesonga added that the defeat highlighted weaknesses previously masked by earlier results. “This match has shown us where we need to improve. Our defensive organisation and response after conceding must be better. We will use the festive break to reset, rebuild confidence, and return sharper,” he said.

Police Bullets coach David Vijago praised his team’s intent and preparation. “We respected Trinity because they are top for a reason, but we wanted to start fast and control the game.

The race is tight, so this win gives us momentum, but we must come back ready to chase every point,” Vijago said, adding that they would focus on recovery and fine-tuning rather than wholesale changes during the break.

The result reshapes the conversation at the top of the Women’s Premier League, proving that even the strongest sides must guard against early lapses and maintain consistency throughout the season.
