Gospel legend Daddy Owen has revealed the unconventional branding advice he once gave to renowned motivational speaker and pastor, Robert Burale.
During the debut episode of the DaddyXMo Podcast, Owen shared how he encouraged the "image consultant" to be seen more frequently in the company of women to manage public perception.
The conversation took place on the inaugural show of the podcast, which Owen co-hosts with long-time friend DJ Mo.
The duo used the platform to discuss their 20-year journey in the industry, touching on everything from professional regrets to the private lives of their peers.

Avoiding the "Forex" Label
Owen recounted a specific conversation where he urged Burale to loosen his strict public image. He suggested that Burale should take and post photos with "random ladies" and female fans to avoid uncomfortable rumours or labels.
According to Owen, a man in the public eye who is never seen with women often attracts unwanted speculation. He noted that in the current social climate, people are quick to categorise men who appear too isolated.

“Nilimwambia siku moja, bro piga picha na madem hapa na pale. Nikamwambia bro usipopiga picha na mademu watasema wewe ni mseh wa forex,” Owen said.
The term "forex man" is often used in local slang to describe individuals who are suspected of being in the LGBTQ community.
Owen argued that there is no harm in a public figure being social and accessible to their female audience.

Protecting the Brand
The advice was not immediately welcomed by Burale. Owen revealed that the pastor was deeply concerned about how such photos might impact his professional standing.
Burale is widely known for his sharp suits and "Life Coach" persona, which relies on a high degree of perceived discipline.
Owen recalled Burale’s hesitant response during their private chat. Burale reportedly worried that appearing too casual with women would "burn" the polished brand he had spent years building.
"He told me, 'Brand... you are burning the brand.' I told him it is not a mistake to take pictures with fans." — Daddy Owen
A New Era of Transparency
The revelation came as part of a wider discussion on the DaddyXMo Podcastregarding the pressures of being a "perfect" Christian role model.
Both Owen and Mo expressed that they are tired of "pretending" and want to show a more human side of the gospel industry.

The podcast itself is a significant milestone for the pair. DJ Mo shared that he has trained no less than 500 DJs throughout his career, while Owen admitted he is now prioritising quality over quantity in his music and public appearances.
While the episode focused on the past, Owen emphasised that he is still learning and evolving. He concluded that while he is not a "life coach" like Burale, he believes in the power of sharing real-life experiences to help others navigate the complexities of fame and faith.
