Laughter and joy filled the air, especially among the many children whose bright eyes and wide grins captured the spirit of the season.

“What a joy it was lighting up the Christmas tree and cutting cake with the amazing children of the New Mukuru Housing Estate,” Ruto said, reflecting on the moment.

“There was laughter, smiles all around, and a little festive magic to remind us that this season is truly about community, hope, and happy hearts.”

The key-handover at Mukuru Estate, Phase II, Nairobi saw hundreds of families receive homes at Riara and Muriguini, where 5,000 and 2,920 units respectively are being delivered as part of the Government’s Affordable Housing Programme.

Across Kenya, in all 47 counties, Ruto said work continues on the expansive housing initiative, currently seeing some 240,000 units in various stages of completion.

“These investments have so far created some 480,000 jobs for our skilled and talented youth, while also delivering safe, decent, and dignified homes for families,” he said.

President Ruto was joined by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and other leaders as the community celebrated these milestones.

The day’s events also included the official opening of several key facilities at Mukuru, enhancing services for residents. Among them were the New Mukuru Level IV Hospital, a new Mukuru Fire Station, Mukuru Mall, Mukuru Police Station, and the refurbished Mukuru Primary and Pre-School.
